What audiences are
One recording, a cut for each audience, each leaving out what that audience should not see and checked before it can be shared.
The same film often goes to very different people: engineers, leaders, prospects through the sales team, customers in the help centre, and people scrolling a feed. What suits one is wrong for another, such as code on screen, next quarter's plans, usage numbers or a customer's name in a list. Audiences let one recording serve all of them, each getting only what it should.
How it works
- Lines are marked with what kind of sensitive they are. Each line of a film, or slide of a deck, can carry labels. Most carry none.
- Each audience sees some labels and not others. It can also add masking to the recording, ban words, and say how to write for it and what its cut makes.
- A cut for an audience comes from the same recording. Lines it may not see are left out (their stretch of the take is skipped, nothing is recorded again), and the lines it keeps can use words written for it.
- Every cut is checked before it can be shared. See The audience check.
- The service checks again. When a cut is shared, the Showreel Studio service runs the check itself against your organisation's rules, rather than trusting your Mac's report.

Where you see them
- In the app, a film's Audiences panel lists your organisation's audiences. The Line panel's Who sees this line card sets a line's labels and which cuts it is in. A deck has the same, per slide.
