Edit the words online
Change a cloud recording's words in the web app and record it again, and when that is not possible.
For a film recorded in the cloud, you can change its words in the web app and record it again, without going back to a Mac.
What you can change
- The Title.
- Each line's Voice-over.
- Each line's What happens and What a frame has to show. These are the descriptions reviewers read; they do not change what the recorder does.
The lines, their order and the recorder's steps stay as they were recorded.
Steps
- Open the recording from Recordings and choose the Storyboard tab.
- Edit the words.
- Press Approve and record again, then confirm. Nothing records until you do.
The film is recorded again as a new recording, and its Log tab opens. The recording page notes that its words were edited in the web app, and by whom.
Bring the edits back to your Mac
showreel cloud pull <id>This brings back the edited storyboard. The previous one is kept beside it as storyboard.prev.json.
When it cannot
- A film shared from a Mac. Its Storyboard tab is read-only. Change the words where it was made and share it again.
- A changed voice-over on a pass-through cloud connection. The voice-over box is read-only, because the voice spends on your own Google Cloud sign-in, which the web app does not have. You can still change the other words. To edit voice-overs in the web app in future, switch the project's cloud connection to one the service may spend on (
"mode": "grant") and record from your Mac again. See Connect your Google Cloud. - A recording that used your app's sign-in from your Mac. The service does not keep it. Record again with
showreel cloud record <film> --with-signin. - A recording voiced on your own cloud token. Record it again from your Mac with
showreel cloud record <film>. - Two recordings already running. An organisation can run two at a time. Wait for one to finish.
