The voice refused
Why a voice-over does not get made, and how to fix the cloud connection, the sign-in or the script.
The voice-over is made on your organisation's own Google Cloud, never on Showreel Studio's. Most voice problems are about that connection.
"The voice runs on your organisation's own Google Cloud"
The project has no cloud connection, or names Showreel Studio's own project. Add your Google Cloud project to the project's showreel.json and sign in with gcloud on this Mac. See Connect your Google Cloud.
"no Google access token" or "needs a gcloud sign-in on this machine"
Your Mac is not signed in to Google Cloud. Run:
gcloud auth login
Then check with showreel doctor.
"no take split cleanly into N lines"
The voice reads the whole script in one go, then splits it into lines. This message means none of the takes split cleanly. Try:
- More takes, with Takes on the film's Voice panel or
--takesonshowreel voice. - Shorter lines, each ending in a clear full stop.
In the web app
- "a changed voice-over is voiced on your own cloud sign-in … which the web app does not have": your project's cloud connection uses your own sign-in. Record it again from your Mac, or see Edit the words online.
- "the voice stage spends on a pass-through cloud connection and needs your gcloud token with the job": sign in with gcloud on your Mac and send the recording again.
Own voices
- "Google refused the custom voice for project …": Google limits own voices to Google Cloud projects it has allow-listed. Ask Google to add your project.
- "the Cloud Text-to-Speech API is not enabled on project …": enable the Cloud Text-to-Speech API on that project first.
- "could not record from the microphone": allow your terminal to use the microphone in System Settings.
