Edit a kit

Change a kit's colours, type, logo, voice, motion, captions and deck styles in the kit editor.

The kit editor in the local app shows every setting of a kit as a form. You can edit your project's own kits; the others are read-only.

Before you start

To change a kit from Showreel Studio or your organisation, copy it into your project first: on the Kits page, press Duplicate to project on its card, or use New kit with a folder id, a brand name and the kit to start from.

Steps

  1. Open Kits and press Edit on a kit marked this project.
  2. Change what you need. The form is in cards:
    • Identity and bumper: the brand name, the eyebrow, the title size and the open style.
    • Colours: ink (text), masthead bar, ground, accent, second accent and the sub-nav strip.
    • Type and Fonts: the families, the Google Fonts address, and font files of your own.
    • Logo and masthead: upload an SVG or PNG, then set its width, left offset and the bar's height.
    • Voice: the engine, voice, alternatives, direction in plain words, pace and gaps.
    • Motion and cuts: typing speed, cursor moves, the tap ring, dissolves and the longest silence.
    • Polish: Zoom onto the action and Set the footage on a stage.
    • Overlays: captions on by default, and their font, size and colours.
    • Deck: the deck's fonts and colour tokens. Derive tokens from the colours fills them in from the main colours.
  3. Press Save kit. The kit is checked as it saves, and its preview is cleared.
  4. Press Render preview to see the new open.

The whole kit.json is under Advanced: the whole kit.json. If you edit it there and save, the JSON is used instead of the form.

In the terminal

Copy a kit into your project, then edit kits/acme/kit.json in any editor:

Delete a kit

Delete kit at the foot of the editor removes one of your project's own kits.
