Approve a storyboard for recording
Nothing records in the app until you approve the storyboard, and changing what is recorded withdraws the approval.
Approval is your sign-off that the script is right. In the app, nothing records until the storyboard is approved: Record, Recut and Record in the cloud are all refused until then. It stops a take being spent on a script nobody has read.
Before you start
- A storyboard you have read through: Edit a storyboard.
In the app
- Open the film and choose the Film panel.
- Click Approve for recording. If you have unsaved changes, the button says Save and approve and saves them first.
You can also click the Storyboard step at the start of the pipeline across the top of the film.
The Film panel then shows when it was approved, and the Not approved marker leaves the top bar. If you try to record an unapproved film, the app says so and takes you to the Film panel.
What withdraws approval
Saving a change in the app to anything that is recorded: the words, the actions, the steps, the title, captions, masking and so on. Writing the script again, or recording a demonstration into it, withdraws it too.
These changes leave the approval standing, because they do not change the recording:
- which audiences the film is made for, and the words written for each;
- labels on lines, and which lines an audience leaves out;
- the shapes and extras a build makes;
- headlines, and whether words are burned into the vertical cut.
In the web app
A cloud recording's Storyboard tab lets you edit the words and click Approve and record again. That records the film again with your words, as a new recording. See Follow and manage cloud recordings.
